Let's Talk About Me

Eggdon is a 24 year old fine artist with a concentration in painting and screen printing, and experience in woodworking and metalworking. She received a B.A. from The University of Tampa and since then has continued a consistent practice while based in South Florida. When not in her studio, she works in creative advertising and client services. Her role in both advertisement and art gives her a broad scope of skills from the world of fine art to that of commercial consumption. This can be seen through her work while deriving inspiration profoundly influenced by Cuban avant-garde and Latin American contemporary art.

Eggdon's practice is focused around the exploration of how process art, implied movement, and the act of layering - both in the addition and the removal of - depicts and distorts the depth of individuals and their relationship with societal urbanism. This is found through themes of duality and existential narratives regarding social significance, relative insignificance and human tendencies. Both self taught and institutionally trained, she uses the approach of a waking dream to best translate the story she is telling. Utilizing each discipline as a language, she brings form to her clever ingenuity out of acrylic, oil, and mixed media paintings and illustrations, while leaving space for additional intersecting mediums.

She engages beyond the studio by instructing experimental work shops that guide participants from a place of creative fear to creative freedom. With initiative to give back, she serves on the board of Project Soulshine, a non-profit outreach organization serving India, Nepal, and Bali. This extraordinary charity merges her passion for art with a deep commitment to giving back. By providing individuals with the space and resources for self-expression through the arts, it showcases the profound influence art can have on individuals and communities that transcends borders and cultures.
